Also released to help the transition process are a couple of device link profiles between the old coated standard and the new;

ISO Coated v2 to PSO Coated v3

PSO Coated v3 to ISO Coated v2

For more information on the background to these new standards please see our previous post ‘The new Fogra 51 and 52 profiles’ from when the profiles were in beta stage last year.

To start implementing these new standards the following changes are important to note;

A new measurement mode called ‘M1’, from ISO 3664-2009 is used which more accurately measures Ultraviolet light. Your old Xrite i1 or Epson Spectroproofer will not be compatible. The newer i1 Pro v2 model and the new Epson SpectroProofer containing the X-Rite ILS30EP spectrophotometer are compatible. You may also need to update your RIP software to support these devices.

Viewing booth and press-side lighting may need to be updated to bulbs with the correct UV content.

Proofing media

Your current proofing media will need to be changed to a newer standard that is optically brightened to match with the standard.

Our new media is now available. Please contact us to discuss further and to help with your transition.
